Aloe Vera is one of the oldest medicinal plants known to mankind. Americans began to notice the plant’s curative properties
during World War II. The U.S. Marines from the Pacific fleet used to break off pieces of the plant to quickly relieve the pain of sunburns. Since then, aloe vera has become a very popular ingredient in skin care products, cosmetics and health drinks.
Aloe Vera is a very unique plant as it contains over 100 separate ingredients in its leaf and gel. There are also over 500 varieties of the aloe species that grow throughout the world, however, the most common species for the production of aloe vera gel is Aloe Barbdensis or Aloe Barbadensis.
To produce aloe vera gel, the aloe leaves are processed through an extraction machine which separates the clear gel from the unwanted rind. Once produced, the gel’s compounds are comprised of just pure water and allantoin, a soothing and natural skin protectant. Some of the most desirable aloe vera gel types include:
Aloe Vera LipoQuinone Extract: Helps to deeply penetrate the skin and supply moisture directly to the tissue.
Aloe Vera Gel Decolorized: Helps to soothe and moisturize dry, irritated or damaged skin.
Geritrex uses these highly refined grades of aloe vera in its skin care, hair care and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products. The aloe-based products include:
Asper-Flex™ Cream (topical pain analgesic)
GelStat™ (hand sanitizer)
Bodi Lotion™ (head to toe, gentle skin care)
Bodi Protect® (barrier ointment)
